MODAL SOSIAL DAN PARTISIPASI MASYARAKAT DALAM PEMBANGUNAN DI KELURAHAN TEGAL PANGGUNG YOGYAKARTA

Abstract

A good example of social capital can be learned from the Segoro Amarto society which is founded based on the principle of mutual cooperation to push progress to the whole Yogyakarta province. This social movement encourages community initiative in development by building trust and cooperation and constructive values in the province, especially the Tegal Panggung village. This study questions how is the form of social capital in people participation in development in the village. Data were gathered using observation and interviews. This study concludes that the Segoro Amarto is a clear example of social capital which is necessary in facilitating coordination between people and government apparatus. lt moreover explains that its values embody social capital through trust and mutual cooperation, and they become “glue" which de-bureaucratizes coordinating lines with government agencies and apparatus. Therefore, synergy between society and government can be developed.
